What brand of network card would be good to use for the Acer Aspire X3400G.

If you don't want to use the integerated Ethernet port, the specifications here suggest you have one PCI and one PCI-E slot open. So, you can use any card that fits in either of those slots.
If I can add, I would use the PCI port, saving PCI-E slot for a future video card upgrade.
