How Do I Enable Tap To Click On My Touchpad With Windows 8?

I have an acer aspire e1-531 and my tap to click somehow disabled. I have been trying to fix it for at least three weeks and I just can't seem to find the right thing. Everything that I find on the internet is for how to enable it with windows 7 but I have windows 8.

If you need to enable or disable the touchpad, press simultaneously the function (Fn) key and the F7 key. A message will appear on the screen to indicate whether the touchpad is enabled or disabled. In case the touchpad does not work despite enabling it, uninstall the touchpad driver via Device Manager and restart the computer to let Windows reinstall the device. This article describes how to do this.

NOTE

On some models the key combination may be different. Please check your User manual on how to perform this on your specific model.

SOLUTION

Reinstalling the touchpad driver:

  1. Click Start, then right-click My Computer (or Computer) and click Manage.
  2. In the Computer Management window, on the left, click Device Manager.
  3. Click the + sign in front of Mouse and other pointing devices.
  4. Right-click the device listed below Mouse and other pointing devices and select Uninstall.
  5. Click OK to confirm removal of the device.
  6. Restart the system. Windows will detect.

I hope this is helpful to you!
