Lag In Pc Games

Recently i bought a laptop with a specifications of 2GB DDR3 Memory, 640GB 5400RPM SATA, nVidia GeForce GT 540M 2048MB DDR3 dedicated Graphic Card and my QUESTION is that ,why does my laptop lag and hang in 50 mb pc games? what is the problem, what should i do? but in my 2 years old laptop it does not hang? so i guess there is a problem with my new laptop.. .hoping for your reply.tnx in advance..
