Reprograming the AT&T U-verse remote to the new TV codes can be a real nuisance and sometimes requires a step-by-step walk-through with an AT&T U-verse Tech Support member.  Call 1-800-288-2020 and navigate through the automated menu for Tech Support which is available live 24/7 although you will be parked until a tech is available.

Not knowing your new TV, I cannot supply the code. But I can tell you that sometimes the instructions in the shiny page supplied with your receiver's remote aren't precise enough.  I can also tell you that the process can take 5-10 minutes at the least. You will need to be patient.

First - is that TV now operating with its own remote?

Next - find the AT&T U-verse setup code from the leaflet. If you don't have that code, you can find it online at the linked site. I warn you that some manufacturers have more than one code and sometimes no hints are provided.  Write down all possible codes.

  • To manually program the Device Codes for the remote. All TV codes begin with the numeral  1.
  • Power on the TV
  • Read all of this steps before Press and hold the mode key (those top buttons on the AT&T U-verse remote of the device.  TV in this case. As you press the TV button you will also press the OK button on the remote for 1 second and then release both. What you are doing is telling the remote that it is in programming mode.
  • After you released the buttons, all 4 mode buttons should flash - sometimes hard to notice when your hand is obscuring that part of the remote.
  • Enter the 4 digit Device code on the numeric key pad.  There should be a long flash from the TV mode key indicating it got the message.
  • Point the remote at the TV and press the POWER key (the key in the center of the array of mode keys) This should power the TV off.
  • BUT if that doesn't work and the TV has multiple codes, you will have to begin again. Note that if you enter an incorrect code, sometimes the buttons will flash 8 times and then the remote exits the programming format. Begin again.
  • What the leaflet doesn't tell you is how long the process can really take.  If you are still not sucessful, call the number above and a Tech Support person will be glad to hold your ear and walk you through the process until the remote code is accepted.
