Release the hood prop rod from about 8 to 12 inches (20 to 30 cm) above the vehicle to the front of the vehicle and lift the secondary hood release handle before lifting the hood. 3. 4. Then let the hood drop from its retainer and put the hood prop into the slot marked PROP ROD. 2, Then go to latch fully. Lift the hood. Lift the hood to make sure the hood is closed and repeat the procedure if necessary. 5-11 Check to relieve pressure on properly. Before closing the hood, be sure all the filler caps are on the hood prop.
