Turn the center retainer bolt on the passenger's side trunk wall. Lift and remove the cover. Pull the carpeting from the trunk. See "Compact Spare Tire" later in the trunk. Open the box and then twist the wing bolt a quarterturn counterclockwise. Remove the jack and wheel wrench. 5-23 The box that stores the jack and wrench is in this section for more information aboutthe compact spare. Remove the spare tire from the floor of the trunk. The equipment you'll need is on the spare tire cover counterclockwise to remove it.
