System Will Not Complete Setup After Taking Computer Back To Its Original State.

THE TOUCH PAD STOPPED WORKING ON THE EMACHINE E528.  I DID AN ALT+F10 IN THE RECOVERY MANAGER TO SET THE SYSTEM UP LIKE IT WAS WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT.  HOPING THAT WOULD HAVE FIXED ANY PROBLEMS.  THAT PROCESS WENT WELL. WHEN THE COMPUTER BEGAN THE SET TO PUT THINGS BACK ON THE COMPUTER IT WOULD GET TO ABOUT 38% AND A POPUP SCREEN WOULD APPEAR STATING THAT WINDOWS COULD NOT COMPLETE THE INSTALLATION. INSERT THE DISC AND SETUP WILL RESUME AFTER RESTART.  I INSERTED THE DISC WINDOWS DISC THAT I PURCHASED ORIGINALLY AND INSTALLED ON THE COMPUTER AND I STILL GOT THE SAME MESSAGE. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?

I would attempt recovery manager (alt + f10 again- If it sticks again, I feel that the hard drive may be failing (cannot find files, lockups, etc: can be because of that.

I would suggest that you get hold of another hard drive, and use a caddy

Connect the original, and new hard drives to the double ended part of the lead on the caddy, and use another pc/laptop to copy the old hard drive using Partition Wizard. The home version is all you need and its free. This software will need to go on the pc/laptop you use to copy it, and it will copy the partitions on the original to the new hard drive, and lots more- a very handy way to keep recovery options.
