Brushes & Chicken Wire

Why are my nieghbors not recieving my requests for brushes or chicken wire? I click "ask friends" and then choose my Farmville 2 friends, click send. It says "message sent" but my friends say they are not recieving it. I even looged in on my wife's account and can't find them! PLEASE HELP!!
