Yamaha Hs80m Problem

One of my HS80M monitors will produce a violent non-musical thumping noise that physically moves the woofer as if too much signal were pulsating thru the monitor. The monitor does this on either left or right channel too. Has anyone heard of this or know what the problem is? The monitors are around 2 1/2 years old.
