You can change your password here. Since your username is your email address, there is no way to change that.

  1. Export Contacts from Previous Email Account: First, you'll need to export your contacts from your previous email account. Depending on the email provider, the steps might vary. If you had a Windows Live account, you could export your contacts from the Windows Live People page. If it was a different email provider, you'll need to check their specific instructions on how to export contacts.
  2. Import Contacts into Gmail: Once you have your contacts exported as a file (usually in CSV or VCF format), you can now import them into your Gmail account. Follow these steps:
    • Go to your Gmail account on the web.
    • Click on the "Google Apps" icon (the grid of squares) in the upper-right corner and choose "Contacts."
    • In the Contacts page, click on "Import" from the left-hand sidebar.
    • Choose the file you exported from your previous email account and follow the instructions to import the contacts.
  3. Update Your Gmail Account Information: Since you mentioned that you need to change the username and password for your Gmail account, follow these steps:
    • Go to the Gmail website and log in with your current username and password.
    • Click on the gear icon in the upper-right corner and select "See all settings."
    • In the Settings page, go to the "Accounts and Import" tab.
    • Under "Change account settings," click on "Change password" to set a new password.
    • If you want to change your Gmail address (username), unfortunately, Gmail doesn't allow changing the primary address. You can create a new Gmail account with your desired username if it's available.
  4. Update Email Settings on Your New Phone: Once you have your contacts imported into Gmail and your account credentials updated, you can set up your new Gmail account on your new phone.
    • Go to your phone's settings and find the "Accounts" or "Add account" option.
    • Choose "Google" as the account type and follow the on-screen instructions to add your Gmail account.
    • Make sure to enable contact sync, so your contacts will be available on your new phone.
