Detergent Dispenser Door Does Not Activate.

Repair shop replaced entire door latch assembly, including microswitches. Detergent dispenser cover will now not release. Spring works. Going back to same repair shop not an option. Is the detergent dispenser door activated mechanically or electronically? Any repair suggestions?
