With the fairly recent change in the television broadcast companies having to go to digital, from the older analog signals, it has left a lot of questions this is just one of them. A digital signal is much clearer then in the past but if you used broadcast TV in the past your regular old antenna will still work. there are three different types of antennas so too keep this easy you have a box antenna that will pick up a wide range of channels and a arrow shaped antenna that will get channels from much farther away but will not pick up as many channels because there is less surface area. The third type of antenna is the small digital antennas they sell those may work well in metropolitan areas where there are a lot of channels close buy but in rural areas they will not pick up channels as well because of the smaller surface area. The only thing to remember is that if you have an old analog tv you will have to pick up a converter box as well. Your best resource to help you buy the correct antenna as well as how to aim it is this site thank you for your question nad fel free to contact me if you have more questions
