(the below applies specifically to Windows 7 operating systems, others may be similar)
Now - device not recognised, first thing to check:
Plug the Innotab in and switch on, your Learning Lodge program should automatically detect the device and start up, once loaded, shut it down and restart it manually using the shortcut on the desktop, if the device is detected you should see a blue circle confirming connection (see fig 1)
- does the device appear as a removable IFSD drive under your computer menu?
Yes - shut down the Learning Lodge and go to start > computer > C drive > program files(x86) >Vtech >Download Manager > System and double click Agent Monitor.exe then double click DownloadManager.exe to re start the program from an alternative location
No - Check the USB cable is pushed firmly in, if so check confirmed USB connections on the bottom right of your tool bar (green tick next to a USB picture)
If usb connection is confirmed, confirm that all Innotab memory partitions are recognised under device manager:-
Go to Start > right click on Computer > Click 'Manage' when the management console comes up look on the left of the menu and click Device Manager
On the right of the screen, expand the + box against Disk Drives, you should see
Vtech IFSD, Vtech Nand1 and Vtech SD (if SD memory is inserted)
Scroll down the management console - look for 'Other Devices' if you find it click the + next to it to expand, you may see 1 or more 'Unknown devices'
- Right click on the first unknown device and select 'update device driver software'
- From the available options which will appear, choose Browse my computer for driver software' then select 'Let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer'
- You should now see a list of options, select disk drives
- From the next menu, you should see a check box ticked with 'show compatible hardware/software' with 'generic volume or disk drive' listed next to it
- Click 'Next' to install the driver
- Repeat the above step for any other device listed under the 'other devices' section
- If Windows hangs badly (more than 5 minutes) at any point in the above process you may have a problem and need to contact the manufacturer for replacement.
You may get an autoplay window pop up, just close it and restart the Learning Lodge, you should now have a big blue circle against the picture of the device which says 'connected'
