The answer to your question depends on several things:

1. Did you miss your flight by not showing up at the airport and failing to notify the airline prior to departure?

2. Did you contact the airline prior to your flight departure and let them know you would not be on the flight?

3. Did the airline cancel your flight and advise you could use your ticket/value at a later date?

If you notifed the airline in advance of your flight departure that you would not be on the flight, you still have the ticket value remaining with the possibility of change fees when you book a new reservation.

If you "no-showed", which means you never advised the airline in advance you would not be on the flight, then you have no credit remaining on your ticket. Airlines started this policy several years ago. They wanted the opportunity to fill unused seats in advance, rather than waiting until check-in to fill vacant seats.

Best thing to do is call United and find out the status of the ticket you never used. If you no longer have the confirmation number, you'll at least need the ticket number that you didn't use in February. Tickets are valid for 1 year form date of issue.
