How Do I Turn Off The Beeps Which Occur When I Lock And Unlock The Doors?

When I lock and unlock the car doors, with or without the remote, the car beeps. I want to stop this from happening. Interestingly, sometimes, for no apparent reason, there will be no beeps for a short period of time (loose wire/fuse?), but the beeps always return.
