Gas Cap

Should I used a vented or non-vented gas cap for a 2000 toyota camry. I am having problems with my EVAP system. Check engine lught keeps going on even after hav iui ng work done on it. Codes p0441/p0446

Not so much a loose cap, but more frequently a leaky cap no longer capable of holding a vacuum. But the gas cap isn't frequently the culprit.

In later year vehicles, I see the purge solenoids no longer functioning which throw the evap codes more frequently than gas cap failures.

And since we are answering a rather generic problem/question with an equally generic answer, the most frequent problem I've seen with generic evap codes is an old, leaky rubber elbow somewhere between the purge solenoid and charcoal canister. Its the first place I look when smoke testing an evap system.

Spend a little to get it diagnosed properly as it could be a myriad of solutions.
