Power/battery Problems?

I haven't even had this computer for a year and all of a sudden my battery will not hold a charge. I've done a lot of searching and tried different things to get the battery to charge that worked to begin with, but the problem only came back. The battery will hold a charge for about a month.. and then It will stop charging. The light that is usually Orange, or blue (depending on wether the battery is fully charged or not) will shut off when the battery is still in the computer and when i take the battery out and attempt to use the computer without the battery, even though it is plugged in, It will begin to start up and then shut off. So i try to restart it again and i get a black screen that pops up saying "Windows failed to start." Sometimes it fixes the problems on its own and starts the computer and it will run for a few hours without the battery.. and sometimes it wont fix the problem and it will just shut down again. After i finally get it to run for a few hours without the battery as soon as i put the battery back in it begins to charge again and hold a charge for about a few weeks to a month and then I have to do the entire process all over again. I have tried: -Taking the battery out and unplugging it and then holding the power button down for a minute. (that worked for the first couple of times then stopped) -unplugging it and taking the battery out and then just letting it sit for 24 hours without touching it (that didn't work at all.)  I just have no idea whats going on.. I've tried researching the problem but I come up with no answers. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on with my computer? I figured i'd ask here before and see if Its something simple enough i can fix on my own before I take it in to have it looked at. **Its probably very obvious I don't know a lot about computers and I feel dumb for asking for help.. sorry if I've confused anybody with my wording.. or if i've typed too much  I just don't know really how to explain what is happening and everyone looks at me like i'm nuts when i try to tell them whats wrong with my computer. :(

Your notebook should run without battery. If you have problems running it on power supply, forget about battery, problem is elsewhere.

After one year battery could be bad, but thats not explain why it dont works with power supply.

Try to install some software that can monitor temperature of CPU and GPU /processor and video card/, like speedfan. If any temperature goes 80 degrees celsia and higher, that could be your problem.

Overheating protection will power down the system. If this is the cause you need to clean your fan, heatsink and put new thermal paste no your CPU/GPU.
