I've had that problem a couple of times, where the mower would run great but as soon as I shut it off, it was difficult to get it started again. It was a different problem both times.

The first time, it was because of a dirty carburetor. If you have the time, take the carb off, clean it, and rebuild it with new gaskets and other parts. If not, just take the air filter off and clean out the holes and passages. Compressed air works great, as doescarb cleaner and a paperclip for the small venturi holes.

The second time that happened, it was because the mower needed an oil change. You can find instructions for changing the oil on page 15 of the owner's manual. In a pinch, however, try either adding fresh new oil (if it's not filled to the max) or Sea Foam additive to get it going.
