There are several potential causes for a gas oven that starts and stops after a few minutes of operation. Here are a few possibilities:
  1. The oven thermostat may be faulty. If the thermostat is not accurately sensing the temperature inside the oven, it may shut off the gas supply before the desired temperature is reached.
  2. The oven igniter may be weak or defective. The igniter is responsible for lighting the gas in the oven, and if it is weak, it may not be able to sustain the gas flame, causing the oven to shut off.
  3. The gas valve may be faulty. The gas valve controls the flow of gas to the oven, and if it is not functioning properly, it may cause the oven to shut off.
  4. The oven may be overheating. If the oven is getting too hot, it may have a safety feature that shuts off the gas supply to prevent a fire.

To determine the cause of the issue, it is best to have a qualified appliance repair technician diagnose and repair the oven. They will have the necessary tools and knowledge to accurately identify and fix the problem.
