It is often not the fault of the antivirus software. They are looking for "BIG THREATS." And are good at protecing us from them. Instead, most of us get "little treats." That are traceablt to what we do.
I learned this the hard way when I got an annoying bit of adware that I installed along with a program I downloaded to combine multiple PDF's into 1.
That said, I would try MalwareBytes from http://www.malwarebytes.org/. It is free, and removed and repaired the malware. I have used it a lot while repairing other peoples' PC's.
