Wiper Blades Hazard

I have had wiper problems since I purchased this vehicle (new). In storm situations, the wiper blades form large chunks of ice and will not clean the windshield. The fluid will also get blocked in the trough. This may sound like a small problem, but I live in the Midwest. Every major storm, these blades have malfunctioned at a dangerous level. I am unable to clear salt build-up from my windshield and my vision is seriously limited. I spun out on the tollway this morning while avoiding a multi-vehicle collision and had to manuver through debris when I couldn't see out my windshield. It was after this experience that I vowed to rid myself of this beast and never purchase a Subaru again. Why can't they acknowledge and offer a solution to a serious defect?
