Phone Says I Have One New Text But I Dont.. How Do I Get Rid Of That?

I deleted a contact thread and right after that person had sent me a text. It doesnt show in the inbox or in my messages at all but on main screen it says 1 new text and along the top of the screen it scrolls across to remind me. I go into notifications and click the message that way but it comes to an empty text screen saying invalid destination address. How do I get rid of this notification? I have a samsung galaxy proclaim
