Erasing Recordings

Why am I suddenly unable to erase messages from my ICD-P520 digital voice recorder? I have been able to do this many times in the past so I do know the process for erasing...it's just not working.My memory is almost full and I need to free up space.

Please perform a reset by following the instructions below:-

Press the RESET button with a small pin, etc. If you press the RESET button while operating the IC recorder, stored data and settings may be deleted. Before resetting, make sure that the access lamp ( ) and the recording lamp ( ) are not lit.
