HDMI carries video, audio control and data, so in many ways it is the "all-in-one cable"
However problems arise when connecting older analog red-white-yellow, composite signals, since copyrights are being protected by the device, to ensure that pirate movies and music cds are not made.
There may ba a "switchable" input, for one of the "aux inputs", that allows composite video and analog audio.
If you have a VGA input, for displaying a pc/mac on your LCD/Plasma, then you can use a cable that breaks out from the DB15 to composite or component video and the 3.5mm input jack is definately analog audio.
Hope this helps
