I had the same thing happen to our microwave.  So I unpluged it from the outlet, waited a minute or so and plugged it back in and it worked fine.

It did the same thing yesterday and worked fine, until this evening when the hood fan part of the device came on and would NOT shut off!  Even after uplugging it, it still won't shut off.

After an hour, or so, I plugged it back in and the fan is off.  I haven't tried the microwave to see if that part is working like it should.  But this gives me an indication as to what is causing this.

If anyone else has had these issues and received an answer, please let me know.

I suspect that the control module seal inside the unit has been compromised and moisture has gotten inside causing a relay to stick.

I will try to contact Sharp to see if there's a pattern here!
