The Passlock system is designed to prevent the engine from starting if an unauthorized key is used. When the system detects an issue, it will display a warning message on the dashboard and prevent the engine from starting.

To bypass the Passlock system, you will need to locate the correct wires and connect them to the bypass module. The wire colors can vary depending on the specific model and year of your vehicle, so it's important to consult the wiring diagram for your vehicle.

One way to locate the wire you need is to use a multimeter to test the wires for voltage. You can also try consulting a Saturn Ion repair manual or reaching out to a professional mechanic or automotive locksmith who has experience with bypassing the Passlock system on Saturn Ion vehicles.

It's essential to ensure that the bypass module you use is compatible with your specific vehicle make and model and that it is installed correctly to avoid damaging your vehicle's electrical system.

Here are the steps to locate the wire you need using a multimeter:

  1. Locate the ignition switch wiring harness in your vehicle. This is usually located near the steering column.
  2. Identify the wires that are related to the Passlock system. Depending on your vehicle, these wires may be colored differently. You can consult a repair manual or wiring diagram to determine which wires you need.
  3. Turn on the ignition and connect the black lead of the multimeter to a metal ground point in the vehicle.
  4. Use the red lead of the multimeter to test each wire in the ignition switch harness. You should see a voltage reading on the multimeter when the key is turned to the "on" position.
  5. Look for the wire that has a voltage reading of around 12 volts when the key is turned to the "on" position. This wire is likely the one you need to connect to the bypass module.

If you're unsure about which wires to test or how to use a multimeter, it may be best to consult a professional mechanic or automotive locksmith who has experience with bypassing the Passlock system on Saturn Ion vehicles. They can help ensure that the bypass is installed correctly and that your vehicle's electrical system is not damaged during the process.
