Dish Network Hdmi Output=perfect Ps3 Hdmi Output=no Signal

I have a very confusing question. My parents have a Sanyo dp50740, and the Dish Network receiver that they have hooked up displays perfectly (on all HDMI inputs). However, when I hook my PS3 up to the tv (in any HDMI input), there is no signal. I'm relatively tech savvy, so I've tried the video reset function on the PS3. It still does not display. I'm confused why the Dish HDMI is picked up, but the PS3 (using the same HDMI cable) does not. It seems to defy all television logic. Any ideas?
