The camera app files are corrupted. Its a common problem with admires. You have to do a factory reset which will repair the android os system files.. If your phone is rooted you will lose your root but it should work just like it did when it came out of the box for the first time. you will also need to update it to the current 2.3.6 version after the reset. I will provide a link to the update at the bottom of this post.
settings>privacy>factory reset (do this with the battery on a full charge after discharging fully to get ensure that the battery is calibrated properly)
