Hello, the DE code means the dryer detects the door being open. If the door is closed when this code is detected, you may very likely have a bad door switch. There is a wiring diagram located on the back side of your dryer that shows the switch in the circuit. If you have a multimeter you can test the switch and see whether it really is defective or not. If the switch is defective, you can purchase a new one from RepairClinic.com for $12.50, which is much cheaper than a service call.
