If I Returned The Sleeve The Wrong Way Will I Still Get Charged?

The kiosk will reject the disk if it cannot read the barcode. This could be because the disk is not a Redbox disk, is in the case backward or could even be because the camera is messed up that reads the barcodes.

If you know the disk is correctly inserted simply refuse to take the disk when the kiosk spits it back out. After 15 seconds the machine will time out, assuming the customer has walked away without confirmation, and will file the disk as an unknown.

When the merchandiser comes by once a week to put in the new releases, he or she will check all the disks filed as unknowns and put them in correctly. When the company first began, people figured out that if they returned a disk after the first day deadline they could return it backwards and not be charged for longer than a single day. This has since been corrected.

There are now dates and times recorded with each unknown disk so you are charged the correct number of days once the merchandiser puts the disk in correctly.
