Frozen Unit

I am the owner of the rca rt2906 digital surround sound unit. I bought this unit brand new about a year and a half ago. About 6 months ago it started freezing up. It functions properly for about 10-15 minutes, then it freezes (stops playing music and display screen is frozen) It also makes a few popping noises about 10-15 minutes after the freeze. What is wrong with it, and how much will it cost to fix?
