There are a few possible reasons why your 2008 Pontiac G5 is not cranking after replacing the starter.

The battery is not strong enough. The starter needs a good amount of power from the battery to crank the engine. If the battery is weak, it may not be able to provide enough power to the starter, even if the starter is new.

The starter is not installed properly. If the starter is not installed properly, it may not be able to engage with the flywheel. This can happen if the starter is not aligned correctly or if the mounting bolts are not tightened properly.

There is a problem with the starter solenoid. The starter solenoid is a small electrical component that controls the flow of power to the starter motor. If the solenoid is faulty, it may not be able to send power to the starter, even if the starter is installed correctly.

There is a problem with the wiring to the starter. The starter needs to be connected to the battery and the ignition switch in order to work. If the wiring is damaged or corroded, it may not be able to provide power to the starter.

To troubleshoot the problem, you can try the following:

Check the battery voltage with a voltmeter. The battery should have at least 12.6 volts.

Try jump-starting the car. If the car starts with a jump, then the battery is the problem.

Inspect the starter installation. Make sure that the starter is aligned correctly and that the mounting bolts are tightened properly.

Test the starter solenoid. You can do this by connecting a jumper wire between the solenoid's S terminal and the battery's positive terminal. If the starter cranks the engine, then the solenoid is good.

Check the wiring to the starter. Make sure that the wiring is not damaged or corroded.

If you have checked all of these things and the car still won't start, then you may need to take it to a mechanic for further diagnosis.
