Cold Air Intake

I have a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI and i want to put a cold air intake on it (K&N). i have heard roumors about the possibility of when i do that it will damage my transmission due to the excessive power when the transmission isnt up to operating temp. True or False?
