Error Message “cannot Record This Content In Video Recording Mode”

When trying to record certain things from my DVR to the Pioneer 233 DVD recorder I get an error message "Cannot record this content in video recording mode." I record other material regularly from my DVR to the DVD recorder with no problem. I currently have my output from the DVR running to the input of the DVD recorder and that output running to my TV. If it makes any difference, the content I'm trying to record to disc is from a series I recorded on DVR back in 2012-2014, but I've recorded other things from that same time pewith no problems.
