Either a wire or a switch must be attached from Positive to Remote to switch the amplifier on. Attaching a wire with no switch will keep it on all the time when battery is joined.

I have my amp always on and switch off at the ground wire attached to the battery. Not sure if that is bad though it stops surge and stops the pop that happens when the battery ground wire is attached at the same time as switching on the source/headunit.

https://www.quora.com/The-amp-only-turns-on-if-the-remote-wire-is-touching-the-power-wire-I-directly-wired-it-from-me-radio-fuse-but-the-same-thing-happened-Does-anyone-know-why-my-remote-wire-won-t-turn-on-my-amp

Thanks

edit 4th June 2020: To make a switch work you must join the blue remote wire from the amp positive to the switch positive + then the switch minus to your head unit positive or the amp negative/minus. If attached to the headunit, headunit must be grounded to the battery negative/minus too.
