Step 1
Check the Panasonic TV cabinet on the front and back panels to determine if the model is equipped with a dedicated headphone jack. If not, go to Step 2.
Step 2Look at the headphone plug on the end of the cable. It will be one of two types, either a standard RCA plug or a 1/8-inch mini-plug. The Y-adapter will need a jack to fit either the standard RCA plug or the smaller mini-plug jack, with standard RCA plugs on the other end of the adapter.
Step 3Connect the two RCA plugs on the Y-adapter to the Audio Out jacks on the back of the Panasonic television.
Step 4Plug the headphones into the remaining Y-adapter jack.
Step 5Turn on the Panasonic TV and use the remote control to access the main menu by pressing the "Menu" key.
Step 6Use the up and down arrow keys to move through the menu choices until "Speakers" appears on the TV screen.
Step 7Use the right and left arrow keys to turn the Panasonic TV's built-in speakers on or off. This will shut off the built-in speakers so the user can enjoy private listening with headphones.

If you have an older model Samsung TV that doesn't have a headphone jack, you can purchase an adapter to use with the AV Out audio jacks on the back of the set. Purchase an adapter that has two RCA (audio) jacks on one side and a female jack on the other side that is fitted to the size of your headphone jack. To use the adapter, plug the RCA jacks in the audio jacks in the back of your TV and then plug your headphones into the female jack of the adapter.
Use Wireless HeadphonesWireless headphones use a transmitter that sends audio signals to your headphones. This transmitter attaches directly to your TV via a coaxial cable, RCA outputs or your television's headphone jack. If your TV doesn't have a headphone jack, and the transmitter you purchase requires one for setup, you'll need to purchase an RCA-to-female-headphone adapter. When purchasing wireless headphones, Samsung recommends selecting a model that is self-amplified. These headphones have a volume control knob that you can use to adjust the volume of the sound coming through the headphones, opposed to non-amplified headphones which have a fixed volume level that can't be controlled at all. It's also important to note that while using self-amplified headphones, the sound will continue to project from the television's speakers unless the volume is set to zero, the sound is muted or "External Speakers" is selected as the audio source.
Other ConsiderationsAlthough setting up a Samsung TV with headphones is straightforward for users whose video source is standard cable, standard antennae in, AV in or S-Video in, those with a video source that uses Component In, DVI or HDMI may encounter some difficulties. If you have any questions or problems, consult your Samsung users manual
