5 Speed Manuel Shifter Is Slopey

hi there i have a 2001 oldsmoble aero it is a 5speed manual Now they other day my shifter became slopey now all gears work fine it is just they shifter when im in any gear they shifter is just floppy so what is they probblem  thanxs for they help
