Ac Button Malfunction

I have (2) 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigues. Both have the exact same issue. The AC button keeps flashing on and off which puts the compressor into overtime going on and off continuously. The compressor in the first one has been changed 3 times....its not the compressor. That button has an issue and it gets really hot. I have to turn the fan all the way on high...on both cars....for the AC to kick in and stay on...but on occasion still goes off. Can't depend on either car. Garages can't find the issue.
