P0024??

this code originated from a VVT solenoid. I replaced both, did an oil change, and the code keeps popping up. The requested service now is replace Camshaft Position Sensor with the same code P0024. I also read the Camshaft Oil Control Valve might need replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The error code P0024 in your 2009 Nissan Maxima indicates a problem with the Camshaft Position (A) Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 2. Since you have already replaced the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoids and performed an oil change, there are a few additional steps you can take to further diagnose and resolve the issue:
  1. Check the Camshaft Position Sensor (CMP): Since the requested service is to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor, it would be a good next step to inspect and potentially replace this component. The Camshaft Position Sensor provides input to the engine control module (ECM) regarding the position and timing of the camshaft. A faulty or malfunctioning sensor can cause issues with the VVT system and trigger error code P0024.
  2. Inspect the Camshaft Oil Control Valve: The Camshaft Oil Control Valve is responsible for controlling the flow of oil to the camshaft, which in turn affects the VVT system's operation. A malfunctioning or clogged valve can cause timing issues and trigger the error code. Consider inspecting and potentially replacing this valve if necessary.
  3. Check the Timing Chain: A worn or stretched timing chain can also contribute to timing issues and trigger the error code P0024. Inspect the timing chain and its components for any signs of wear, damage, or slack. If necessary, have the timing chain replaced to ensure proper timing and operation.
  4. Consult a Professional Mechanic: If you have already performed the above steps and the error code persists, it may be best to consult a professional mechanic with expertise in Nissan vehicles. They can perform further diagnostics using specialized tools and techniques to pinpoint the exact cause of the issue and provide a more accurate solution.
