What Do I Check When The Check Engine Light Comes On?

It could be any number of things. Mine recently came on and luckily it was just the gas cap. You need a code reader to diagnose the problem. Firestone wanted to charge me 60 bucks but you can buy them on Ebay and have the tool forever.
