Why Does Netflix Cut Out In The Middle Of A Show?

They had a service outage.   Computers are not perfect, they fail.  The Internet is a huge mess and constantly under attack.  People screw up and things just happen.

You can't expect perfection from a service like this.  They do their best to stay online but between them and you is a lot of distance.  As a computer professional I can tell you that it's not practical to expect nothing to ever go wrong.  Does you car work 100% of the time?

Sometimes you simply need to wait things out.  Believe me, when the service goes out people are scrambling on a fix.  NetFlix is currently using 1/3 of the total bandwidth of the Internet.  Thats a hell of a lot of data and a lot can go wrong.  I'm frankly impressed they do as good a job as they do.

If there is conjestion on the Internet you will see drop outs.  It's a fact of life just like traffic on the freeway at rush hour.  The segment of the Internet you connect to has limited bandwidth and the more people using it the more it can fail.
