My Lt280 Status Light.
the projector powers on, fan comes on, then after a few moments fan shuts off, power light is orange steady, status light blinks 6 times then pauses and repeats

The projector is in standby mode. Interpretation of the blinking status light depends on its color. See http://bit.ly/2vlrWHu.
