On the SBG6580, the bottom light is the wireless light.   When the wireless light is solid green, it is successfully paired with a network device.   When it is flashing amber (an orangish colour), it means WPS pairing is in progress.

On mine, to stop it, I connect to the cable modem in my Internet browser (the IP address of my cable modem is 192.168.0.1).  Once I log in to the cable modem, I click on the Wireless tab.   After clicking on the Wireless tab, I click on Primary Network.   After clicking on Primary Network, there is a section on the right hand side that reads WPS Setup AP.   I click Configure and after clicking Configure, I click Abort.   This changes the light from flashing to a solid green.

Again, Wireless tab -> Primary Network -> Configure (under WPS Setup AP section) -> Abort
