There may be a way to locate the phone if you have MetroGuard. Which in the event of a lost or misplaced phone you are able to use MetroGuard to locate the phone, remotely access a loud alarm and/or lock your lost or misplaced phone so anyone who fiinds the phone are unable to use it without the assigned lock code. However, the MetroGuard is an additional feature (at $1/day) and has to be installed on the phone prior to losing or misplacing it in order to use this service.

Speaking from experience, i know how stressful losing your cell phone can be. So I wish you much luck on locating your son's.
