Water Not Flowing To Water On Door Or Ice Maker

Water is flowing into the water filter but not flowing out from filter to water dispenser on door or to ice maker. Initially thought lines may be frozen, but had refrigerator unplugged for 3 months and when plugged back in had same issue. I know water is flowing in to filter because you can hear water flowing and when take off the filter it is full of water. When I plugged the frig back in after being unplugged for time, water came out of the dispenser on the door for a few seconds and then stopped. There is a little bit of water flowing to ice maker because it is making an ice cube every couple of hours, cubes are very tiny.

Quick answer, check to make sure you don't have any kinks in the water supply line. If not, change the filter. If no help I would call for service.

Detailed instructions:

Allow up to 24 hours for the refrigerator to reach a normal temperature if you have just installed it. The refrigerator needs this long to cool completely. Likewise, wait several hours for food to reach a chilled temperature if you have just added a large load. Check the temperature dial to make sure it is at the cooling level at which you want it to be.

Check to make sure the doors of the refrigerator close completely and that they do not stay opened for prolonged periods of time if you notice condensation in the interior of the refrigerator. Humid air entering the refrigerator causes condensation. Check to make sure the insulation around the refrigerator doors is not torn and allowing air to enter the appliance.

Move the refrigerator away from the wall and check the water line, which is located at the bottom of the refrigerator in the back. Make sure it isn't pinched or twisted in a way that would impede water flow. If you notice the water coming from the water dispenser does not flow freely, a kinked water line is likely the problem.

Unscrew the water line from the connection at the bottom of the refrigerator by twisting the line connection counterclockwise with your hand. Press the dispensing lever to allow the water inside of the refrigerator to empty if the water has an odd odor or taste. This is likely a sign the water is stagnant and has been in one place for too long. After the remaining water dispenses, hook the line back to the refrigerator and check whether there is a difference in taste and smell.

Dispose of the first glass of water if you want a cool glass of water and the water dispenser has not been used for a while. The water that sits closest to the dispenser while waiting to be dispensed does not stay cool.

Turn the water shutoff valve all the way open if the water does not flow well or if the ice cubes appear to be small or hollow. The water shutoff valve is often located in the wall, directly behind your refrigerator. If your refrigerator has a filter, remove it and check to see whether the quality of the ice cubes improves. The filter is located at the top of the interior of the refrigerator, in the back. Turn the filter counter-clockwise to remove it. If the quality of the ice improves, replace the filter with a new one. The filter is likely clogged.
