Broken Safety Switch

I have this dryer and the repair man came out and said it was a broken safety switch. I ask her if he took anything off and she said no. The switch he sent looks nothing like what is in there now and besides that I don't see how in the world "taking 2 screws out and replacing it" would fix the problem when you can't even get to the part without taking the front of the dryer off. Am I missing something. there are no parts in the door itself. It lights up like its going to come on but when you press the button it just beeps and will not turn on. He said it should only take 5 minutes but I am not finding how he came up with that. He also said it would be 3 weeks before he could get back so it would be easier if I fixed it.. Some warranty..LOL The switch he sent is about 4" long half inch thick and inch wide. IT has a single connection coming from it but has several wires as if it should just plug in. It doesnt match up. ANY help. We really need our dryer to work. Thanks,Mark

Note that we're an independent help site *not* connected with Maytag. Since your machine was under warranty, your first course of action would be to complain to the authorized service facility that worked on it. If that's not successful, phone Maytag at 800-828-4040.
