Interrupted Wash Cycle On Our Maytag Dishwasher, Model Wdb6957aws3; Won't Restar

According to the manual, one must re-start within 3 seconds or cancel the cycle. This is apparently a very common problem and there are some forums that mention reset code sequences, some on the front panels and some on the back of the unit. Naturally, not ours. This happened once before and my wife hit some buttons and "Wah-Lah!" it reset and worked fine, until she interrupted it, yet again!
