No Service Since Changing Internet Providers.

I just changed my internet service from Charter to AT&T. Since changing I can no longer get magic jack service. I have the majic jack plugged into the wall outlet the same way as before and have plugged the other end into the internet modem. No service. Can anyone tell me what to do please.

Changing your ISP should not affect the operation of your magicJack. If you think it has done so, your best course is to phone the ISP. (Call 800-288-2020.) I can't recommend calling magicJack, as its customer service in essentially nonexistent, and available by phone only for billing matters.

Your magicJack may not work properly, or at all [partial list]:

  • if your magicJack is not running,
  • if it's not properly secured,
  • if the phone cord is not secured or is broken,
  • if you're not connected to the Internet at a sufficiently high speed,
  • if without a powered USB hub several phones are used to generate power from a USB port,
  • or if your magicJack device is defective.

You may wish to try these instructions. You can also reset the device, as explained here. Or consider "Running MagicJack as System" as outlined here.

If however the device is defective, you need to return it. If you bought it from magicJack, follow the instructions at http://my.magicjack.com/returns.html. If it's too late to return the device, you can seek a resolution with your credit card company or with the Florida Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services, at 850-488-2221 or 2005 Apalachee Pkwy., Tallahassee, FL 32399.
