Hook up the device to your computer via its USB port. With a MAC, double-click the magicJack Plus icon that appears. (With a PC, magicJack Plus software will load automatically.) Click "Click Here To Register" or "Click Here for Free Trial." Follow the on-screen prompts.

To change the phone number, select the Phone Numbers tab and click the button for Add a Phone Number. (Here's a lengthy list of currently supported area codes. Here's a longer list that includes local prefixes.) magicJack charges $10 to make the change.
