Mwr20v6 And Compatable Dvd

Is there a reason why the MWR20V6 will not allow me to record on Sony DVD+R Printable media? Also Verbatim DVD+R Printable media? Is it because they are Printable or because they are "+"? I have had no problem with +R by other brands (TDK etc) and one time was able to use a Sony that was printable. Any solutions or suggestions?
